Abstract:
Torrential processes like (flash) floods and debris flows represent a severe hazard in alpine regions. In this project we focus on the identification of critical meteorological and hydrological trigger conditions at different temporal and spatial scales. Using an ensemble of down-scaled high resolution regional climate models expected changes due to changing climatic conditions are assessed. The project aims to provide useful tools and decision support for policy makers and stakeholdes in Austria managing alpine hazards.
