Economics of Climate and Environmental Change Research Group
Group leaders: Karl Steininger and Birgit Bednar-Friedl
The EconClim Research Group focuses on the socio-economic aspects of climate and environmental change, especially on how individuals and society contribute to global climate and environmental change and how they are affected by this change. Particular attention is paid to the options individuals and society have to adapt to as well as to mitigate climate and environmental change. The geographical scale of analysis focuses on the Austrian and sub-national level, as well as on related European and global issues.
Three research themes are addressed:
- RTEC#1: Socio-economic challenges of a climate neutral transformation
- RTEC#2: Climate risks across sectors and trade-offs of adaptation
- RTEC#3: Socio-economic aspects of the environment and resource use across borders and scales
Within each research theme we contribute to the full research value added chain, from basic research to basic-research-oriented applied research and up to applied (policy oriented) research.
