Abstract:
Land is becoming increasingly a production factor various economic sectors compete about, seeking to cover rising demands for food, renewable energy, material resources as well as environmental and amenity services. We will quantify the implications for each of these sectors, taking account of their interaction, at the regional and provincial level, how these implications change over the long-term horizon up to 2100, and which investment and political decisions are implied to be prudent under that long-term perspective.Methodologically a systems dynamic model at the global scale supplies framework parameters for a multiregional computable general equilibrium model with explicit land use and land use transformation modelling.
