Project name: PETRA - The role of persistence in tackling Austria´s climate target: Policies for the transport sector
Project leader: Karl Steininger
Project team: Tobias Eibinger
Partners: International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis, Advanced Systems Analysis Program
University of Graz, Department of Economics
Sponsor: Austrian Climate Research Program (11th call)
Duration: September 2019 - August 2021

The transport sector is crucial for Austria’s GHG emissions balance. It is governed by systemic de-lays, e.g. caused by long-lasting vehicle stocks in operation. For a reliable policy analysis prospec-tive in time, the quantification of the system’s memory and persistence is important. PETRA is novel; it will link these characteristics with policies that had a succinct impact on the Austrian transport sector in the past allowing to improve evaluating the delay and effectiveness of future policies.
