The Regional Climate Research Group works on understanding climate processes that determine regional climate variability and climate change; on regional climate changes and the associated uncertainties for the assessment of climate risks; and on optimizing the interface with climate impact research. One focus is on weather and extreme events in climate change. We study the climate of Europe and the European Alps, but also consider other relevant climates. Our research is based on 21st century climate simulations, sensitivity studies with climate models, investigations and simulations of individual events, analysis of existing climate simulations, and analysis of observational data. We contribute to international activities such as the World Climate Research Program and the IPCC.
Work with us!
If you would like to write your BSc or MSc thesis with us, please contact Douglas Maraun and Albert Ossó in a joint e-mail. We will then discuss who could best supervise you.
There are two ways to write a doctoral thesis or work as a postdoc with us:
a) in a funded project (> current calls);
b) with your own funding: This could be a scholarship from your government or a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowship. In this case, please contact Douglas Maraun and Albert Ossó in a joint e-mail. The University offers substantial financial support for MSCA applications.
Otherwise we do not consider unsolicited applications.
