Habilitation colloquium by Julia Danzer

Julia Danzer mit der Habiliationskommission

Julia Danzer mit der Habiliationskommission

On January 27, 2026, Julia Danzer successfully held her habilitation colloquium entitled "High quality atmospheric climatologies from radio occultation satellite observations". Congratulations!

Julia Danzer holds a degree in physics with a specialization in theoretical physics and transitioned into climate research after completing her doctorate. For approximately 15 years, she has been teaching at the University of Graz, with a particular emphasis on supervising theses, which is a personal priority for her. In her habilitation thesis, she summarized work in the field of atmospheric climate monitoring. Her research aims to improve the quality of observational data (radio occultation data) in the stratosphere in order to derive wind fields. The overarching goal of her work is to observe large-scale global atmospheric circulation patterns under the influence of climate change and to analyze their changes. In 2025, Danzer was also awarded the STEIRERIN AWARD for her research.
