Systems mapping for policy analysis

Wegener Center Common Space with Peter Barbrook-Johnson

In this talk, Dr. Pete Barbrook-Johnson will introduce systems mapping and consider its use for policy analysis in energy and environmental domains. Pete will begin by introducing a range of systems mapping methods, making clear their differences, and explaining how they can add value to projects. He will then describe examples of systems mapping being used in applied environmental and energy projects with government. For more background on systems mapping please see Pete’s book.

Pete Barbrook-Johnson (University of Oxford) is a social scientist, economist, complexity scientist, and systems thinker. He regularly uses research methods such as agent-based modelling and systems mapping in his applied environmental, energy, and public health research and policy analysis. He teaches on a range of undergraduate and masters courses, focussing on the economics of environmental change, and the use of complexity and systems sciences in environmental issues. You can read more about Pete’s work on his website and his Twitter.
