A-LEVERS – Major levers in climate change adaptation in Austria
The impact of climate change is increasingly evident, prompting decision-makers across various governmental levels, from the EU to local authorities, to develop adaptation strategies. With a plethora of potential measures, the challenge lies in prioritizing those that are both effective and feasible. The A-LEVERS project aims to bridge the gap between scientific evidence and practical implementation, assisting decision-makers in navigating the complexities of climate change adaptation in Austria.
Through a synthesis of existing research and ongoing dialogue between experts and practitioners, the project identifies key climate risks in Austria and prioritizes adaptation measures accordingly. This involves evaluating the effectiveness and feasibility of various strategies and bundling them into cohesive plans. By developing adaptation pathways tailored to representative regions, the project aims to provide concrete guidance for adaptation efforts.
Key outcomes include visual representations of Austria's key climate risks, a selection of prioritized adaptation measures, and tailored adaptation pathways for specific regions. Additionally, the project will produce a practical handbook for applying these strategies in other Austrian regions and beyond, fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration among stakeholders.
