Studying at Wegener Center

Teaching at Wegener Center covers natural science, economic and social aspects of climate change. Collaborations with other departments offers courses in, e.g., geography, ecology, sustainability research, philosophy and law.

Wegener Center is the only University department in Austria putting climate and climate change at the heart of its research and teaching activities. Leading experts in their research area are responsible for our teaching (Read more). They are active in national and international initiatives such as the World Climate Research Programme, Future Earth and IPCC. Especially at the MSc level, the number of students is kept deliberately low to enable close interactions between students and teaching staff.

Our teaching contributes to various BSc and MSc programmes (Read more) and covers foundations, applications and current research topics. Elective courses help  to shape your personal profile and to gain further in depth knowledge or to broaden your view across other topics relevant for climate research. Your MSc theses are typically closely integrated into the research at the institute.

Our study programmes equip you with the knowledge to pursue a career in Academia as well as in the public and private sector.
