Abstract:

reclip:century provides regional climate data sets of the Greater Alpine Area as a basis for Austrian climate change impact research. A first project conducts hindcast and control simulations from 1960 to 2000 and future climate scenario simulations for the A1B and B1 SRES greenhouse gas scenarios up to 2050. Data from 2 global circulation models (GCM), are used to drive two regional climate models (RCM), delivering results with 10 km grid-spacing. In a second phase (reclip:century 2) the simulations will be extend until 2100, and additionally, the  A2 SRES scenario will be used. Additionally, stronger focus will be on the exploration of uncertainty and further empirical and dynamic downscaling methods (1 km resolution) will be applied for two 30 year periods. Model results and climate change signal indicators will be made available to the public through a data warehouse.
