Abstract:

reclip:century 2 is an extension of the reclip:century which will provide regional climate data sets of the Greater Alpine Area for climate impact research. These data will be available to the public. The first project conducts hindcast and control runs, 1960-2000, and 4 future climate simulations for A1B and B1 SRES scenarios up to 2052-2050. Driver data from two global circulation models (ECHAM5 and HADCM3) are applied by two regional climate models (MM5 and CLM), delivering results with 10km grid-spacing in mid-Europe.

The proposal for reclip:century 2 will continue and extend the simulation runs of the 4 SRES scenarios A1B and B1 from 1951 to 2100, will add an additional A2 SRES scenario run 2001-2100, will conduct uncertainty exploration, sensitivity analysis. Further empirical and dynamic downscaling tests up to 1 km resolution for the A1B scenario will be conducted for two 30 year periods. Additionally, indicators will be calculated and provided by an easy accessible database to explore regional climate change signals. The model results (the gridded data sets of the simulation runs and the indicator database) will be made available to the public through a data warehouse with graphical user interface for easy data selection and download
