Abstract:

KlimDatZ is essentially a feasibility study for an Austrian Climate Data Centre that makes climate data from observations and scenario calculations accessible
to different users. Different options and their respective costs, advantages and disadvantages will be developed to a level of detail taht can serve as a blueprint
for the establishment of such a centre. The concepts will be based on the anticipated requirements of the different users, including mainly the research community, but also stakeholders and the public in general, and will define what data and services should be included, the necessary pre- and post-processing of data, desirable interfaces for direct access of data, legal aspects to be considered, possible locations and how it could be realized. Depending on these requirements, solutions for infrastructure, including hardware, space and software have to be developed. Cost estimates will be made for implementation as well as for maintaining of the data centre.
