Abstract:
The project supports the development of the Austrian Climate Change Adaptation Strategy with its contribution to the activity field “economy”. It assesses the vulnerability as well as arising risks and chances of climate change for the overall Austrian economy and specifically for the sectors production, commerce and insurance (thus complementing the sectors already addressed in the National Strategy); within production and commerce, a special focus is laid on food and the chemical industry. In particular, we derive concrete options of action for adaptation in the context of global change. Furthermore, we complement the strategic part of the National Strategy by lead principles of adaptation as well as criteria for the priorisation of adaptation options from an overall economic view.
