Recommendations for elective topics on climate research

For the winter term 2021, the Wegener Center for Climate and Global Change offers a few courses that are not embedded in a curriculum, but provide exciting competences for students. For elective topics, we suggest:

  • Lecture and exercise Selected Topics in Climate Science (Python for climate and environmental scientists):
Learn modern Python with a special focus on tools and methods used in climate sciences and geophysics, including practical examples of climate data analysis
    Tuesday, 13:15 – 14:45
  • Seminar Social science approaches to sustainability:
Get familiar with concepts and methods used in the field. The course explores the sustainability concepts and their applications in social science research and practice with a focus on economics, global environmental problems, renewable energy sources and possible future scenarios.
    Thursday, 13:30 – 15:00

The sustainability4u lecture series organized by the nine Styrian universities/colleges addresses Crisis and Awareness Change (in German). Every Wednesday from 6 pm to 8 pm possible solutions are presented and will be discussed with the audience.

Enrollment starts on Thursday, 16th of September 2021.
